Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant/CPA to join our finance team. This individual will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and preparing accurate financial reports. This role requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles, analytical expertise, and a passion for delivering actionable insights.

Responsibilities:

Accounting & General Ledger Management: Manage the general ledger and ensure timely and accurate postings of transactions. Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial data. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations

  • Transaction Processing:
    • Serve as a back-up for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions.
    • Set up new vendors and customers in SAP.
    • Conduct credit checks for new customers, working with the commercial team on credit limits.
  • Settlement Processes with Client/Parent Company:
    • Settle provisionally priced products with customers.
    • Manage intercompany transactions and settlements to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
    • Reconcile intercompany accounts and resolve discrepancies.
    • Prepare detailed reports and analyses
  • Close Duties:
    • Review month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for corporate and internal stakeholders.

Revenue Recognition, Gross Margin Analysis & Reporting: Prepare and support the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Assist with budget preparation and forecasting processes.

  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Review customer contracts to assess and document revenue recognition requirements.
  • Partner with the sales and operations teams to address revenue recognition implications of new contracts or amendments.
  • Analyze COGS and related inventory transactions to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Perform detailed gross margin analyses to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to improve cost controls and margin performance.
  • Analyze gross margin trends, identify variances, and evaluate key drivers, including revenue, cost of goods sold (COGS), and pricing strategies.
  • Gather, organize, and maintain accurate financial data to ensure consistency and reliability in reporting.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, and sales teams to understand margin impacts and provide recommendations for margin improvement.
  • Evaluate cost structures, including material, labor, and overhead expenses, and assess their impact on margins.
  • Contribute to the development of forecasts and budgets by analyzing historical margin data and projecting future performance.
  • Track and report KPIs related to gross margins and profitability, providing actionable recommendations to stakeholder.
  • Familiarity with transfer pricing, wholesale trades and manufacturing.

Cash Management & Treasury

  • Prepare cash flow forecasts to ensure adequate funds are available for operational needs.
  • Monitor intercompany or interbank transfers to maintain optimal account balances and reduce idle funds.

Compliance, Regulatory and Financial Controls

  • Stay current with accounting regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant financial reporting standards.
  • Prepare and submit required filings, including tax-related documents and regulatory reports.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation.
  • Address audit findings and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Assist in preparing tax workpapers for year-end tax returns and quarterly estimates.
  • Collaborate with tax advisors on filings and compliance for local, state, and federal taxes.
  • Oversee and review 1099 filings/sales tax returns.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Enforce financial controls and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with established financial protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on revenue recognition and COGS.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data analysis).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, SAP management and SAP implementation experience is a must.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, specifically ASC 606.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proven track record of cross-functional collaboration.
