Internship Summary:
To support our commitment to innovation and expanding solutions and markets globally, we are excited to launch our Agronomy Internship Program, an initiative to strengthen our internal R&D team and drive impactful results.
This program provides an opportunity to bridge academic knowledge with real-world applications in a dynamic, customer-focused business environment. The internship aims to deliver dual benefits: advancing business objectives while offering interns practical, hands-on experience within a profit-and-loss-driven organization.
The program will typically span 6-9 months, with flexibility for part-time or full-time engagement based on the intern’s academic schedule. Interns will be based at our Wayzata, MN, headquarters, earning competitive hourly compensation. There may also be opportunities for travel during the internship term.
Participants will gain invaluable exposure through participation in internal forums with company leadership, structured development opportunities, chances to help build the business and opportunities to gain organizational and industry acumen. This is an excellent opportunity for emerging agronomy professionals to make meaningful contributions while honing their expertise in a global business setting.
General Internship Responsibilities & Areas of Focus:
- Support the North America product testing program, including engaging with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and Universities through:
- Laboratory – Nutrient analysis, fertilizer quality and product characterization
- Greenhouse – Nutrient uptake and efficiency and environmental testing
- Field trials – Small plot replicated trials and large scale on-farm demonstrations
- Review, interpret and synthesize data from OCPNA research to develop and deliver research findings that support OCPNA product evaluations and Performance Products.
- Support data analysis through advanced analytics to help solve both OCP and customer challenges.
- Support the development and utilization of data science infrastructure, tools and best practices.
- Other projects and initiatives to be determined based on business and team opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree completed, in progress of achieving PhD in agronomy, plant science, soil science or related field.
- Technical knowledge in overall agronomy, fertilizers and data generation for field fertilizer management.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- High learning agility with demonstrated ability to deliver high value contributions, both as part of a team and individually.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in at least one scientific computing and data science programming language (e.g., R, Python, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience leveraging data science tools and best practices (e.g., Git, Jira, databases, Jupyter/Quarto notebooks, APIs, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience implementing generalized linear mixed effect modeling statistical methods (e.g., lmer, nlme, brms, PROC MIXED/GLIMMIX, etc.).
